Welcome to Juicy*S Mixed Media Art School!
In 2019 I created Art Play Dates, live workshops where we played with art supplies, learned some mixed media techniques, and connected to our truest selves through art making. It all came from the days when I would host Girls' ARTisan Camps for my daughter and her friends, starting in the Summer of 2006.
Whenever the moms came to pick up their daughters, they'd see what we'd been doing and say, "I wanna do art camp!!!" And I knew exactly how they felt! I had a lot of fun running these camps! When the week-long camp would end, I'd leave all the supplies out on the front deck and play over the weekend...and sometimes into the week afterward...on my own, in my art journal, making mail art, making my own messes!
Then I'd clean up!
Creativity is my self care.
I hope my classes help you connect to your own creativity in a way that feels like self care to you!
So, here in my school, you can attend an online version of the Art Play Date!
I'll be offering classes in three tiers:
Juicy*S Art Camps
Full, multi-video classes with concentrated teacher engagement for an extended time, and a full project that can take several days (like a week-long Girls ARTisan Camp!) to complete. You'll receive a detailed Class PDF and some other surprises that will help you complete the project.
Juicy*S Art Play Dates
Full classes with at least two detailed, instructional videos, and concentrated teacher engagement for a limited time. You should be able to complete the full project in a day (like a live Art Play Date here on the deck!). You'll receive a detailed Class PDF and some other surprises that will help you complete the project.
Juicy Tutorials
Free or low-cost, short tutorials featuring instruction in one or two video lessons, tips, tricks and techniques, and ways to add to some of the bigger projects taught in classes in the other tiers.
Hi, I’m Juicy*S
also known as Sarah Gardner
Juicy*S is my DJ name. I'm not a DJ. I would love to be a DJ. It's one of my fantasy dream jobs, really. I got this name when my sister, my friend, and I were slinging paint and working in our art journals, drinking wine, and keeping track of the funny things we were saying on a "sign-in" sheet...just craziness.
We all ended up with a DJ name that day.
I started my first art blog with this name, and I've had it ever since. It just makes sense to use this name for my art business.
What's your DJ name? Let's sling some paint and you can tell me all about it!
Juicy*S Art Camps
Coming soon! An in-depth course about how I select ingredients, make the papers, embellish the covers and bind my own Junk Journals. More information forthcoming!
